Art Journaling- the path to your passion
The first time I attempted Art Journaling I sat frozen, staring at the page. I scanned the paper, the paint and all the materials laying on the table before me, attempting to make a plan, a pleasing composition. Suddenly my sister's voice broke into my thoughts with a very direct command, "stop thinking. Just pick whatever moves you." I leafed through magazines tearing out everything that moved me, even a little bit. Words, colors, images, shapes. I randomly squirted some paint on the page and drug it around the page with an old credit card. I glued down pictures and words, tissue paper and ribbon. When the page had dried I looked at it. It was magical. A message was there, leading me deeper into who I truly was. I saw what I loved and where I wanted to move. I took up my fine-tipped black marker and began to write. My soul emerged.
The Sequel- This page moved me to reflect on where I wanted my life to go after experiencing loss. I was so drawn to the picture of the woman examining the earth. I purchased a small "field" journal and began sitting outside examining trees, flowers, rocks. I sketched them, I colored, I wrote and I researched about what I was observing. Through that journal page I discovered something that brought me joy.
Legacy-While this page looks complicated, it really began with a picture of a Tide bottle that had been converted to stained-glass. I cut out the middle and drew the face. I reflected on my legacy, but mostly on who I wanted to be now.
It's All Inside- So much can be learned from that small, still voice inside us.
Wild- Feeling the Spirit of the horse, wild and unafraid.
A New Rhythm- thinking about what I most wanted to focus on in my life.
Fear-Examining fear in my life helps me move it out of my life.
