About

Picture
Cindy Weaver is a teacher who has worked in both public and private education for 20 years. She has a Master of Arts in Information and Learning Technologies and a passion for creating websites and working with digital images. Dancing has always found its way into her life and she has presently taken up drumming and is dabbling in Herbalism. She enjoys many creative endeavors from colored pencil, watercolor and nature-creations to collage and Art Journaling. Drawing faces is what intrigues her most. She has found that writing in any form helps her move through life and stay close to her heart. Her family has been her greatest gift and one that propels her forward. Her home is in the mountains of Colorado which she shares with her husband, a cat, two horses and two grown children that come and go in between their jobs and travels.

Who Am I...Really.

Picture

I am a lover of the earth.  Quiet spaces are where I am most at home.  I am a reflector and a thinker, although both of those get really messy at times.  Fantasy, enchantment and imagination are crucial pieces of my life and my joy.  They inspire me and I find myself sifting out the reality within them.  My journals occupy an entire shelf in my house.  My current favorites are my "Faery Journal," and my "Field Journal."  I love to study trees and plants and I'm trying to get to know them like you would a new friend.
On a summer or fall weekend, you can generally find me in a local coffee shop, sitting by the river or foraging for herbs.  In the winter I will mostly be inside by the fire. reading a book, writing or making some whimsical portraits.
I prefer life to be a little bit messy, but kind of neatly organized too.
I need space-lots of it.  I also  enjoy meaningful times with family and friends.

My Writing Journey

Picture
I grew up on a dead-end country road on the Colorado Plains. I began writing before I was old enough to drive.  In the summer, when my parents were working I had no way to get to town unless I road my bike five miles into town.  Being left with this time, I soon found myself packing up my guitar and a journal and heading down the path to the Bijou River.  I began writing songs and plunking them out with the four guitar chords I had mastered.  When I entered high school I often found myself spending my free periods in one of the little private rooms in the library, playing records and writing.  The flavor of my writing was changing.  I was diving into my personal teenage journey and writing about my experiences, thoughts and reflections. Journals became a staple in my life.  When I started having and raising my kids, most of my writing was on hold. I was dormant for many years, but when I lost Chloe my heart demanded that I write.

These days, I mostly find myself writing from my deck or the "small-town" coffee shops nearby.  The more I write, the more I find I need to write. It is a kind of cleansing ritual, leaving my heart free and unburdened. The posts on my blog are a result of my journaling. The pictures that accompany them are photos of myself, my daughter, my random photo shoots and my art.
